The composer Jerry Goldsmith died in his sleep Wednesday night at his Beverly Hills home after a long battle with cancer. He was 75. Goldsmith won an Oscar for best original score in 1976 for „The Omen.“ He also earned five Emmy Awards and was nominated for nine Golden Globe awards.
He wrote the music for Total Recall, Basic Instinct, Poltergeist, Planet of the Apes, five Star Trek films, … and many others. He also wrote the theme for Star Trek The Next Generation and Star Trek Voyager. —–
